One way I've been getting myself to learn Chinese characters is through karaoke. (And if that means sitting in front of my laptop and singing along, so be it.) In the past five months I've mastered only one song, Moonlight Represents My Heart, and I've almost got a second one, We Are the Descendants of the Dragon, under my belt. Both of these tunes, in addition to having fabulous titles, are considered tired classics. So, in an effort to update my repertoire, my spring 2009 goal is to learn the male and female parts of this monster mando-pop hit from 2007, You're the Song in My Heart. At the time of writing, I understand an astonishing 5% of the song. We're gonna be here for a while.
