We foreign experts at Tsinghua were invited to take part in what felt like an utter bludgeoning of propaganda. The Beijing Expo Center is showcasing an exhibition of "60 years of glorious accomplishments by the Communist Party of China." The 20,000 square foot exhibition center was packed with photographs, displays, LCD screens, and wall text extolling China's herculaneum achievements in science, technology, agriculture, military, natural resources, medicine, transportation, foreign policy, economy, society, and culture. I left ready to renounce my US citizenship.
