A popular conversation topic among Chinese and expats is "can you live on 100 RMB a week?" This all started when a Shanghai office worker put out an online challenge to see if folks can live on what is the equivalent of $14.60 a week. I'm happy to report that I have easily succeeded in this challenge many times thanks to my preference for street food.
