Hiked up 1,000 meters (3200 feet) for nearly 30 kilometers (18 miles). Autumn barely reared its head before winter nipped it in the butt. We spent the chilly night at a local guesthouse and shared a 
kang bed. Four people per bed. Rather cozy, as you can imagine.
