Fake Hermès bags and Louis Vuitton satchels are small potatoes compared to knock-off cars. Snapped this look-a-like Smart car made by Lifan outside my building. Cheap imitations of BMWs, Mercedes, Mini Coopers, and Smart cars are everywhere and apparently being gobbled up by Chinese and Russian buyers. Meanwhile, German manufacturers have been threatening to sue Chinese companies for copyright violation for some time now. The video on this site explains more.

As much as I (a) love a bargain, and (b) want to hug every adorable Smart car I see, I gotta say that I would NOT want to be in a car crash in one of these Chinese knockoffs. That crash test video in your link was scary!
