My Canadian friend with a head full of super curly hair asked me to serve as her translator for her first haircut here. A Korean pop star lookalike competently trimmed her hair, but said that he was afraid to cut too 
much because he might cut out all her curls. She asked me to explain to him that her hair isn't permed and that, in fact, it grows out curly from the roots. Imagine that. You could see the little light bulb go off in his head. For added fun, his assistants gave her a fierce blow out and flat-ironed the hell out of her hair.
