Life is like a box of chocolates

One of the classes I'm teaching this term is all freshmen. For homework, I asked them to each give a short movie review. Out of 20 kids, a few talked about Chinese movies, one did Twilight, another did Slumdog Millionaire, stuff like that. And, six students reviewed Forrest Gump. They all, in their heart of hearts, think it's the greatest movie ever made. One guy said he's seen it over 20 times and has nearly every scene memorized. They all say that they admire the way Forrest Gump lived his life. So, now I will leave you to analyze the social significance of this phenomenon.

I think we are all in denial. Most Americans love Forest Gump too! (Here's where we realize we are in the elite minority)
