My mother, Bernice, is in town so I took her to get her first jian bing, my favorite street snack/meal. Here's a video I took while waiting in line. This jian bing is pretty plain -- with just egg, green onions, and a thin piece of fried dough. I usually get mine with dried pork and sesame seeds. (The voices you hear in the video are of me and Bernice).

We can recognize your voice, Jean, even if we can't understand Mandarin!
That looks tasty. Maybe if you bring some salsa, black beans, rice and grilled chicken you could have him make a jian burrito???
i was thinking when he flipped it over, "nutella"! I want more videos of you and your mom !
What was the hard looking thing he put in the middle before he folded it, the dried pork? What about the colored sauce? What does bing mean? I agree with Kimberly, you gotta have some beans and salsa in there.
it's a crepe!
Yeah, so the "plain" jian bing is like crepe batter with a cracked egg on top. Then it's flipped over and brushed with hoisin sauce and red-chili oil (if you want), sprinkled with green onions and layered with a piece of thin fry bread. I usually get some dried pork and sesame seeds added to it, but this one in the video is a "plain" one.
