I had a vision of la Virgen de Guadalupe tonight. Okay, not really, but I went to check out a restaurant near where I live called La Bamba. I got there on "taco Monday" -- two crispy carne asada tacos with some warm stewed tomatoes described as salsa -- all for only15 RMB (approx. $2.25). It was just okay, but who the HELL cares? It was Mexican food as far as I'm concerned. Si, se puede!

Can't be any worse than the Jack In The Box mystery filling tacos I had late last night...(what can I say, went to the Laker game last week and they scored 100+ and kept the Clippers to under 100, thus free taco coupons for everyone...) But congrats on finding Mexican food in Beijing! Do they have burritos?
Wednesday night is "burrito night." And the tacos did sort of taste like Jack in the Box. There's something kinda comforting about that.

and saying burritos is mexican is like saying hamburgers are german...
