Kanye West at Worker's Arena

Earlier this year after Bjork chanted "Tibet! Tibet!" at the end of her song "Declare Independence," China seriously clamped down on concerts featuring foreign artists. In other words, China has had very few foreign concerts these past eight months. So, it would be an understatement to say that this weekend's Kanye West's "Glow in the Dark" tour stops in Beijing and Shanghai have been the most highly anticipated concerts of the year. I think every American living in Beijing-- old and young, hip hop fan or not-- showed up.

Jean - you are just asking for trouble by mentioning in your blog the "T word" that got that the Icelandic singer chanted...

CHINA: in case you are watching - please know that when I come to visit Jean, I come to spend money in China, eat some donkey (and some "homely" dishes and "fabulous" snacks), and to champion the "One World, One Dream" theme. I will NOT mention any of the "3 T's"!
