I have a dream
I asked each of my students to write an essay describing his/her dream job. In reviewing them, I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Some write things like, "I am an accounting major therefore my dream is to be an actuarian at a major insurance firm." Way to dream big, my friend. Remember this ad? There are also a handful that say things like, "My dream has always been to be an international journalist because I like to write and I like to meet new people and experience new cultures. However my parents chose my major so I am now studying finance. I will probably do investment banking. I still hope to be a journalist one day."

Happy birthday, Jean! Dream big, my friend!
That really is a hard decision about laughing or crying. I recently decided that my dream job would be running a roadside cart that sold baked potatoes with an endless variety of toppings.
But much more importantly, HAPPY BIRTHDAY AUNTIE JEAN! How did you celebrate?
so how many weeks do you get to keep your students?
I have my students for the next 15 weeks. I administer my first final exam on Thursday, December 25. HA!
O.k. I have to stick up for my good actuarian-working-for-big-insurance-company friend. Hey, he makes great $$, is a really cool guy (donates $$ to some of my favorite causes/charities and buys art from local L.A.-based artists), and enables his wife (one of my best friends) to not have to work. Not such a bad thing! :)
As I daydreamed over the recruitment postcard from UCSB, admiring how the campus had beach on 2 sides and planning my audition for the BFA of Drama program, my father lobbied for me to explore get my CPA at Sac State while living at home.
My battle cry became "Death before Accounting"! I didn't go into acting, but I've never regretted that Drama degree.
